Aged 81 years,
7 months and 23 days.
He was graduated at Yale College
in 1794
Licensed to preach the Gospel in
1797:
And installed Pastor of the
Congregational Church in this
Place in 1818
where he continued nearly 10 years.
Grievous in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.
Thanks for this, photo much better than mine and appreciate the full epitaph. Lewis took over this Greenwich church after his father died. Before that he was first pastor at Cooperstown, NY where author James Fenimore Cooper grew up. Rev. Lewis performed his sister's wedding.
