Cornelius Banks, died 1847 Stanwich Congregational Church

Cornelius Banks,
Second Son
Of
David & Marilda Banks
Born November 18, 1823
Made a public profession of his faith in Christ April 7, 1838
adorned his profession with usual fidelity for 6 years and fell
into a state of disrepair & remained there till 37 hours before
his death where he was again favoured with the parning and
redeeming grace of God and had a remarkable triumph of
faith over death and the grave
Died March 8th, 1847 Aged 24 years, 8 months& 21 days.
In early life six happy years
Thou pray to thy God with fervent zeal
And witnessed with thy falling tears
Thy pain when others spurned his will
Thou didst thou long then to declare God's love and mercy to mankind:
But soon thick gloom and deep despair
Cast midnight darkness o'er thy mind
And thou rest on thy death bed lain
Thy Saviour raised thy drooping head
And filled thou with his love again
A deep and tranquil joy was thine
And free from fear and full of love
Thou lef'st this changing world to shine
A ransomed one, in Heaven above.
